According to Modern Chinese Studies, about65 percent of Chinese families include working-age adults dependent on theolder generations. They either live with their families into their 30s, or havetheir families buy an apartment for them. They rely on their parents forcooking and housekeeping, while their parents spend their fixed income supportingthem instead of enjoying their own “golden years.” These people are called anew generation of Neets or Kenlaozu.
What causes this phenomenon? In my opinion, there are mainly the following two reasons. On the one hand, the competition inthe job market is becoming fiercer, so it is very difficult for graduates tofind a satisfactory job. After graduation, many college students are faced witha tough job market and a large number of competitors, which makes it difficultfor them to secure a position. On the other hand, there is something wrong withour childrens education in the family and at school. Graduates often live in acomfort zone for a long time and lack the spirit of hard struggle, thusgradually forming a negative attitude on life, especially on employment. Consequently, they are not willing to find a job, but find various excuses, such as takingthe postgraduate entrance examination or taking the public entrance examinationto postpone the time of being employed. Once their efforts fail, they willbecome a willing member of the Kenlaozu group.
From the above analysis, it can be seenthat solving this problem cannot be achieved overnight. From the perspective ofsocial and economic development, we should provide sufficient jobs forgraduates; then, school education should cultivate students employment skillsby constantly optimizing courses and training means; finally, we shouldcultivate students independent ability to help them form a positive outlook onlife and employment, so that they dare and are willing to go out of the comfortzone, throwing themselves into the great waves of society.
In a word, good civic morality needs to be upheld by all, and everyone plays an irreplaceable role. Therefore, each of us should start from ourselves, put an end to the bad behavior shown above, and be a good citizen to protect the environment.
